Fresh Home Friday: Seasonal Subway Art

When I was a kid, I loved October first, December first, and the beginning of April because that's when my mom would put out all our cute seasonal decorations signaling the start of the holiday season.

I loved the cobweb table cloth and the glass pumpkin candy dish, always full of candy corn. I had a blast finding a place for each of the nativities in my mom's collection or setting out the adorable little bunny figurines and other pastel colored knick knacks. Thinking back, those decorations are my childhood.

As I got older and things got busier, all the decorations didn't make it out of the attic. But now, in my own home I strive for that same signal that the season is changing and I'm trying to do it with those fun decorations. I want my kids to have those same fond memories. Unfortunately I'm on quite the limited budget and as much as I want to, I can't just stock up on all the cuteness that Target has to offer. I have to rely on my own creativity and use of stuff I just have lying around.



I've found that the easiest and cheapest version of that is seasonal subway art. I'm probably a tad late to this party, I'm sure a lot of you already do this, but in case you don't, it's a fresh home idea! Yay!

You can find so many of these on Pinterest and other blogs, but I thought that was just too dang easy and I was already on a DIY creativite kick so I started making my own. Sure, I took inspiration from the ones I found around the internet but I like that mine have a personal touch.

Probably my favorite part about this seasonal decor is that I can pretty much leave it up all year long. There are enough holidays and seasons that you can just switch out the subway art every month. I've got a quote from my favorite TV show that I put in the frame when there isn't a specified holiday.
