Shark's Cove

Sharks Cove is a great place to go for snorkeling. We saw a TON of beautiful fish and even some little color changing squid.

Not much of a Beach

The thing about shark's cove is that it isn't much of a beach. If you're looking for a place that you can lay out and the little ones can play in the sand, this isn't the place to go. There are a lot of big rocks (see pictures) all over the beach, and the 'beach area' isn't very big. It's just big enough for the masses of people who come to put their stuff down and get into the water.

Parking

Also, the parking lot is small and it fills up quickly. We went on a Tuesday and got there around 9:30 or 10:00 AM and the parking lot was already starting to get packed.

To get to the beach you have to kind of climb down a bunch of rocks. There isn't exactly a perfect path. I will admit it's not the easiest thing to do in flip flops while carrying a cooler and beach bag. However, I would recommend leaving any valuables in the car.

Keep your Valuables Safe

A great way to keep your valuables, phone, keys, wallet, etc.) safe at the beach (and don't blame me if this doesn't work for you) is put them in a little sandwich baggie, sealed tightly and bury them, not far mind you, in the sand by your stuff. Then put your towel on top of the spot you buried them so you don't forget where they are.

Great Snorkeling

Now I hope that my warnings haven't changed your mind about going to Shark's Cove. The snorkeling is really incredible. There are fish everywhere, and it's not like you're swimming right on top of reef that could scrape or cut you.

When we went, we saw HUGE schools of fish and squid that changed colors right before our eyes. There were all kinds of colorful fish to look at. There is no place to rent snorkeling equipment, so make sure you bring it with you.
